Development & Communications Associate

Development & Communications Associate Position Description

The Development & Communications Associate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of The Center’s fundraising, including grant writing, special events, and individual giving. The Associate will also help manage online and print communications, including social media and website content, e-mail newsletters, and press releases. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position that reports directly to the Director of Development & Communications.

Responsibilities

1. Support all aspects of donor relations and stewardship, including drafting acknowledgement letters, managing database and communicating with funders.

2. Research potential funding sources and support the preparation of funding proposals and reports.

3. Work with the Director of Development & Communications and Office Administrator to track all donations, gifts, and grants.

4. Promote the organization’s communications by developing written and visual content for social media, website, and e-mail newsletter.

5. Develop print materials, including donor correspondence, special event materials, annual report, advertisements, press releases and other marketing, fundraising, and advocacy materials as needed.

6. Assist in all aspects of The Center’s special events, including planning, execution, and follow-up.

7. Assist program staff as needed and other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in marketing, communications, social services, or related field
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working in non-profit environment with proven development and communications experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in fundraising database software; experience with Salesforce highly preferred
• Technologically savvy, especially Microsoft Office (especially Publisher, PowerPoint, Word and Excel) and working knowledge of website content management, social media, e-mail
• Excellent interpersonal and team building skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Ability to maintain high standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Creative thinker willing to learn new skills when necessary
• Photo, video, and graphics skills preferred
• Flexible multi-tasker
• Passion for The Center for Grieving Children’s mission
• Commitment to working with diverse populations
• Driver’s license, reliable transportation and valid auto insurance
• Child abuse clearance as well as FBI and criminal background checks required

Group Clinician

Group Clinician Position Description

The Group Clinician will be responsible for facilitating grief support programs both on-site at The Center as well as in our satellite location(s). The Group Clinician reports directly to the Director of Center-Based Programming.

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position, which includes two evenings per week. Diverse candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

1. Facilitate grief support groups for children and families at The Center and satellite location(s) two nights per week.

2. Group preparation (including materials, sign in sheets, etc.).

3. Maintain attendance and evaluation databases.

4. Conduct phone support check-ins to enrolled families.

5. Assist in supervising volunteers and student interns as assigned, and in accordance with professional guidelines and regulations.

6. Assist in presentations to the community on grief related topics.

7. Stay up to date on current literature and research in bereavement and children’s development literature.

8. Attend clinical and general staff meetings.

9. Assist in fundraising events for The Center (golf outings, galas, etc.).

Requirements

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience working with children and families
• Experience working with grief, loss, and/or trauma
• Group facilitation experience
• Applicable state licensure preferred
• Certification in thanatology or trauma-related certification is a plus
• Commitment to working with diverse populations
